Research indicated that there were a great many ways for pressure-sensitive tape to serve industry—to improve products—to cut down costs and speed production. The indicated potential justified the formation of the Industrial Tape Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary. Production started in 1937 and permacel and texcel were introduced to the market. During the first three years, it was necessary to add more and more space, and increase facilities to meet a growing demand. The acceptance of permacel has made it advisable to change the name of the company to permacel Tape Corporation. Its main plant covers fifteen acres, and today this company is a leader in the manufacture of pressure-sensitive tapes—an industry that has grown from an idea to a volume of more than three hundred million dollars a year.
